In Dubai International Stadium Sri Lanka defeated Hong Kong by 4 wickets in the Group B match of Asia Cup 2025. With this result Sri Lanka moved to the top of the table while Hong Kong ended their campaign without a victory
Batting first Hong Kong scored 149/4 in 20 overs Skipper Nizakat Khan remained unbeaten on 52 runs off 38 balls supported by Anshuman Rath with 48 runs Their stand gave Hong Kong a fighting total but the team’s poor fielding with several dropped catches and a no-ball in the death overs cost them dearly.
Chasing 150 Sri Lanka relied on opener Pathum Nissanka who played a solid innings of 68 runs off 44 balls. His knock kept the chase on track but his run-out in the 16th over brought pressure as wickets fell quickly The tension was finally released by Wanindu Hasaranga who scored a quick 20 off 9 balls and guided Sri Lanka home in 18.5 overs.
Sri Lanka’s win confirmed their dominance in Group B while Hong Kong despite a strong batting show finished their campaign disappointed due to missed chances in the field.
