No Handshakes and Anthem Blunder Overshadow India-Pakistan Clash

Asia Cup 2025’s biggest match between India and Pakistan in Dubai was not only about cricket but also about the emotions off the field. The game turned into headlines for reasons beyond runs and wickets.
Right at the toss Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha did not shake hands Even after the match players from both sides walked straight to their dressing rooms without the customary handshake Surya later clarified that this was a conscious decision taken in solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and dedicated the victory to India’s armed forces The BCCI and Indian government were also in support of this gesture
Adding to the drama Pakistan faced embarrassment before the first ball was bowled. During the national anthem ceremony a DJ mistakenly played a popular Bollywood track instead of Pakistan’s anthem for a few seconds before correcting the error. The incident quickly went viral and drew criticism.
With these moments the contest became more than just sport. India’s win on the field and symbolic stand off it made this Asia Cup clash unforgettable.
