India Officially Bids to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games

India has formally entered the race to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games with Ahmedabad being proposed as the host city. The Union Cabinet has already cleared the submission and provided the required guarantees underlining India’s commitment to organizing the event. If successful this will be India’s second time hosting the Games after New Delhi in 2010.
The Commonwealth Games Federation confirmed that India and Nigeria are the only two nations to have submitted bids before the deadline. The decision on the host city will come after a detailed evaluation process with the final announcement expected at the Federation’s General Assembly. India’s bid is backed by its rapidly improving sports infrastructure and the government’s ambition to position the country as a hub for global sporting events. Hosting the 2030 Games would not only mark a historic return for India but also align with the country’s long-term plans including a possible bid for the 2036 Olympics.
If awarded the Games will boost Ahmedabad’s profile on the world sporting map create opportunities for athletes and further inspire grassroots sports development across the nation. The next few months will be decisive as India and Nigeria compete to secure the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games.
