Hanuma Vihari Joins Tripura for 2025–26 Domestic Season

By Abhishek Kumar

Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari has taken a big step in his domestic career. He has decided to switch teams, moving from Andhra Pradesh to Tripura for the upcoming 2025–26 season.

The experienced right-handed batsman, who has represented India in 16 Test matches, got a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association before completing the move. Now, he will play as one of the three professional players in the Tripura team. Vihari explained that the main reason behind this change is to get more playing opportunities in all three formats – Ranji Trophy (First-Class), List A, and T20s. He said he still feels capable of performing at a high level and wants to continue enjoying the game.

The 31-year-old has a strong domestic record with more than 9,500 runs in 131 First-Class matches. His experience and calm batting style will give a big boost to Tripura’s batting line-up. Apart from runs, Vihari is also expected to guide the younger players in the team. He also clarified that captaincy is not his main focus, but as a senior player, he will take responsibility and help the team perform better.

This move is seen as a fresh challenge for Vihari and a great opportunity for Tripura cricket.
