By Abhishek Kumar

Indian Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. With this, India has said goodbye to one of its most dependable batsmen of modern times.
Test career
Pujara made his Test debut in 2010 and went on to play 103 Test matches for India. He scored 7,195 runs with 19 hundreds and 35 fifties. Known for his patience and solid defence, he became the backbone of India’s batting line-up, especially in overseas conditions. His best performance came in the 2018–19 series in Australia, where he scored three centuries and played a key role in India’s historic Test series win.
Across formats
Even though Pujara was seen mostly as a Test player, he played 5 ODIs for India. In his overall cricket career, including domestic matches, he scored more than 21,301 runs with 66 centuries, proving his class and consistency over the years.
Farewell and reaction
In his retirement note, Pujara thanked BCCI, his coaches, teammates and fans for their constant support. He said he was proud to represent India and always tried to give his best for the team.
Tributes came from across the cricketing world, with many calling him the “new wall” of Indian cricket after Rahul Dravid. Players and fans praised his fighting spirit and his ability to play long, match-saving innings.
With his retirement, India has lost a true Test warrior, who showed that patience and determination are still priceless in modern cricket.
