South Africa vs Australia 2nd ODI match was played at Great Barrier Reef Arena. South Africa won the match by 84 runs. Lungi Ngidi was the Player of the Match by taking 5 wickets. In the 3-match series, South Africa take 2-0 lead and win the ODI series after losing the T20I series.
In the match, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat. The opening partnership was not too long, they lost the 1st wicket in the 2nd over at the score of 2. Their start was not good, they lost 2 wickets at the score of 23 runs in 5.4 overs. But the third wicket partnership of 67 runs between Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke helped the team to build a strong total against Australian bowlers.
For South Africa, Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs smashed half-centuries and helped South Africa to reach 277 runs.
Australia Performance
When Australia came to bat, their start was also not good. They lost 3 wickets at the score of 38. Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis scored 87 runs for Australia and tried his best for the side. Cameron Green supported by scoring 35 runs, but other batsmen did not give support. So, the team got all out on 193 runs and lost the match by 84 runs.
For Australia, Adam Zampa was the highest wicket-taker with 3 wickets in 10 overs.
Now Australia will play the 3rd and last match of the series for their self-respect. They will try to make a comeback in the series and at least finish the series 2-1.
