Irfan Pathan Supports Gautam Gambhir’s Team Culture
By Abhishek Kumar

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has come in support of head coach Gautam Gambhir and his new way of building the Indian cricket team. Pathan said Gambhir is trying to end the “star culture” which has been part of Indian cricket for many years and bring in a proper team culture where only performance will matter.
Pathan also pointed out that earlier some big players used to get repeated chances even after failing for three, four or five years. Because of this, many youngsters could not get their opportunities on time. Now with Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, things are changing. The focus is on form, fitness and contribution to the team, not on names.
According to Pathan, this will help Indian cricket in the long run. Players will know that they cannot take their place for granted. Youngsters will get fair chances and senior players will have to perform to stay in the squad.

With Asia Cup 2025 around the corner, Gambhir’s “team first” approach is expected to play a big role. Pathan believes this culture will bring more balance, competition and success for Team India in the future.
