ROARING TO BE SAVED : GLOBAL TIGER DAY
By Anshika Khera

Global Tigers Day , also called The International Tigers Day , is observed every year on July 29. It acts as a reminder and raises awareness about the plight of tigers and promotes their conservation. It encourages us to put our efforts in protecting the world’s most iconic and endangered species.
Global Tigers Day was established in 2010 at Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia , where 13 tiger – range countries came together with a common goal , i.e. to double the world’s wild tiger population by 2022, this goal was known as TX2 initiative.
Forest fragmentation due to agriculture, infrastructure reduces tiger territory . Tigers are hunted for their skin and bones which are used in traditional medicine and illegal supply . These many causes have led to decline in the number of tigers.
There are many conservation efforts like camera traps , drones that help to monitor tigers and conservation organizations such as WWF , Panthera work to protect habitats.
We , as dutiful citizens , can spread awareness , volunteer in organizations or donate to those who focus on wildlife protection.
Tigers are not just beautiful animals they are vital for the health of ecosystems they inhabit. Protecting tigers means protecting forests , rivers and countless other species which also includes humans who rely on these natural resources.
