The gold medalist Abhinav Bindra turns 39​ - Know some facts about him

Abhinav Bindra(born on 28th September 1982) is an Indian Olympic Gold Medalist ,retired shooter and businessman.He ws born in Zakirpur, Punjab to a Punjabi family and attended all boys school ,The Doon School. He was the first Indian and among 2 who won Gold Medal in Individual Olympic Gold Medal. Know some interesting facts about his life and career.

• Trained in Germany
In initial days of his sports career India does not have proper faclities to train shooters so he went to Germany for his training in shooting.
• Youngest participant of Commonwealth Games, 1998
After his training in Germany he was only just 15 when he participated in Commonwealth Games 1998 which makes him different from others.
• At age of 17 he was honoured with Arjuna Award
He was the youngest participant in 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney At,2000 Olympics he achieved the score of 590 placing him in 11th qualification round .He was not able to qualify the finals but he won Arjuna Award in that year.
• Honoured as National Flag bearer in 2010 Commonwealth Games

At 2010 Commonwealth Games he was honoured as National Flag bearer at the opening ceremony. He was also given honour of taking athletes oath on behalf of 6,700 participants from 71 countries and territories.

• He also faced failures and difficult situation in his sports career but he didn’t gave up
Do you know that he when he was preparing for his 2008 Commonwealth Games he faced severe back pain injuries but he continued to focus on his training
Also he lost the qualification round at 2012 summer Olympics in London finishing 16th place with 594 score but in 2014, Commonwealth Games at Glasgow he won Gold medal.

• Winner of more than 150 medals and Padma Bhushan Award
In his 22 year of his sports career he won more than 150 medals and he was honoured with Padma Bhushan Award by Government of India. He is is one of the top influncer of sports policy in country.

• He wrote a book about his own life
Abhinav Bindra wrote his autobiography named A shot at history :My Obsessive Journey To Olympic Gold which was co-authored by Ronith Brijnath, the sprtswriter and it was released on 2011. According to sources it has been said that a film would be made on this book taking Harshwardhan Kapoor as lead role.

• Not only a great sportsman but a great businessman also He had a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Colorado. He is the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics Private Ltd.. It is an organization that works to bring science and technology in sports and healthcare centre.
Though his list of awards and achievements is very long but now he had became role model and inspiring every generation with the message that not giving up after facing a failure.
