Proud Moment for India! Indian athlete, Anju Bobby George wins the World Athletics Woman of the Year Award.

Indian Athlete Anju Bobby George on Thursday said that she was ‘humbled’ and ‘honored’ to win the Woman of the Year Award by World Athletics for grooming talent and encouraging the young girls to participate in sports fight for gender equality. She not only became an inspiration but also became the voice of the country as she guided young girls to follow in her footsteps.

World Athletics penned a beautiful note for Anju Bobby George as it wrote “Congratulations to Anju Bobby George on being crowned this year’s women of the year at World Athletics Award. Her efforts in advancing the sports in India as well as inspiring more woman to follow her footsteps and make her more worthy of the recipient of this year’s award”.

World Athletics further added “The former international long jump star from India is still actively involved in the sport. In 2016 Anju opened a training academy for young girls, which already helped the world to produce U20 medalists. A constant voice for gender equality, she mentors young girls for future leadership positions with sport.”

On Thursday Anju tweeted to reply to World Athletics by saying “Truly humbled and honored to be awarded Women of the Year by World Athletics. There is no better feeling to wake up and give back to the sport, allowing it to enable and empower young girls! Thank you for recognizing my efforts.”

The whole country is proud of Anju Bobby George and her work of motivating girls in the field of sports.
