Asian Games 2018: Veteran Sardar Singh Surpasses Virat Kohli In This Test…

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli’s obsession with fitness is no real secret. Counted as one of the fittest athletes in the game, Kohli has laid a benchmark for the rest of his team as far as fitness standards are concerned. The BCCI has also introduced a yo-yo Test, which needs to be cleared by players in order to be eligible for selection for the Indian team.

However, Sardar Singh, the 32-year veteran in the Indian hockey team has numbers to prove that he is fitter than Kohli. His yo-yo test score is 21.4 which beats Virat Kohli’s score of 19.

While the minimum score set by the BCCI is 16.1, it is higher in England and Australia where the players can only qualify if they breach the score of 19.

There is a backstory to this insane score achieved by Sardar. The Padma Shri awardee was dropped from the squad after his pace and speed across the turf could not keep up with the ever-evolving game.

He has been putting in the hard yards over the past four months and has pushed the limit to achieve the aforementioned score. The halfback returns to the Indian squad for the Jakarta Asian Games and for coach Harendra Singh, he is part of the nucleus of the side which is brimming with confidence.
