March29,2022(New Delhi):The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always given an opportunity to youngsters to show a glimpse of their talent. Indian Cricket team has also got its top stars batsman and bowler through IPL only one of them are Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Recently Lucknow Super Giants on Monday unearthed a fine young talent in the form of Ayush Badoni, who bailed his team out of a precarious situation against Gujarat Titans.
Ayush Badoni, is a 22 years old batsman, owes the chance to Lucknow mentor Gautam Gambhir, who bought him at the February auction at base price of ₹20 lakh. he became the first man in the history of IPL to hit a fifty on debut while batting at No. 6 or below but the Delhi youngster said he wasn’t even aware that he got a fifty on Monday.
“I wasn’t looking at the score, I was just batting and wasn’t thinking of my fifty. I just wanted to play my natural game. I realized I got a fifty only after I got there. I couldn’t sleep last night. I was very nervous. After I hit the first boundary, I got confidence,” Badoni told the broadcasters.
Ayush Badoni has a very little experience in T20, having scored just 8 runs before his IPL debut on Monday. He had no first-class or top list position experience and his last competitive outing had come in last year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Despite having impressive experience regarding his scoring 200 runs at the U19 Asia Cup in 2018 and a stunning 185 in a Youth Test against Sri Lanka, Ayush couldn’t stand-out at Delhi on the domestic circuit.
Appreciating the young batsman Capitan of Lucknow Super Gaints KL Rahul said “He (Ayush) is our baby AB. He has been phenomenal from the first day. For a little boy, he packs a punch and plays 360 degrees.
“So happy for him as he grabbed the opportunity. It was not ideal for him to walk out with us four down but he did well under pressure and hopefully, he can continue doing that,” .
