UP government is not letting opposition leaders reach Lakhimpur post farmer’s violence: Know Why​

In Lakhimpur Kheri, politics has been heated up after eight people were killed in violence following farmers’ riots in Tikunia area on Sunday. Some opposition leaders have reached Lakhimpur in preparation for the government’s siege. Some are all set to arrive today. Even after section 144 came into force, the leaders are trying to reach there. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has reached Lakhimpur Kheri while Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and BHIM Army chief Chandrashekhar have been stopped in Sitapur.

Efforts are on to stop Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow while instructions have been issued to stop Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister at Lucknow airport.

The Yogi Adityanath government has also brought the situation under control there. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar along with senior police officer and Additional Chief Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and Agriculture Production Commissioner have gathered in Lakhimpur. Section 144 has been imposed in the district, while the third round of talks is now underway after two rounds of talks with Lakhimpur Kheri district administration farmer leader Rakesh Tikait.

A case has also been registered against 14 persons including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni in connection with the death of four farmers.
