Sangeeta Sengar, the wife of Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a convict of the Unnao rape case, has been nominated by the BJP as a candidate for the district panchayat elections. Sangeeta is the outgoing district panchayat president of Unnao.
The BJP has released a list of 51 candidates of the District Panchayat member in Unnao, in which the wife of Kuldeep Sengar a 4-time MLA from Bangarmau in Uttar Pradesh, is also named.

Now let’s understand what was the matter with sangar, Unnao rape case refers to the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl on 4th june 2017 in unnao uttar Pradesh. Victim’s family received lot of threats after a case was filled against sangar as he was a member of the Bhartiya janta party. Victim’s father had 28 cases of robbery, murder, attempt to murder from 1991 to 2004 but he was not arrested in any case. On 3rd April 2018, police have registered a case against him under the provision of assault intimidation and the arms act. The very next day he was arrested. according to the jail administration of unnao on 8th April 2018 he had a sharp pain in his stomach, got admitted to the hospital, but died. According to the postmortem reports it was clear that death of victim’s father was not because of stomach pain but due to excessive beating.
The court has convicted BJP member Kuldeep singh sengar in the rape & kidnapping case and sentenced to life imprisonment. In the case of the death of the victim’s father in police custody, Sengar and others were sentenced to 10 years by the court. Also found guilty in the death of the girl’s father in judicial custody. After which BJP removed Kuldeep Singh Sengar from the party. Sengar’s assembly membership was also abolished. He is currently in jail
Now, Sangeeta Sengar became the independent district panchayat president. This time the BJP has also expressed confidence in them in the panchayat elections. The party has given Sangeeta the ticket of district panchayat member from Fatehpur Chaurasi III of Unnao district.
