Narendra Modi Speech LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the nation at 4pm today, with the India-China Galwan Valley clashes as well as Unlock 2.0 guidelines amid the rising number of coronavirus cases likely to be on the agenda during the speech. This will be PM Modi’s sixth address to the nation since the outbreak of the pandemic. PM Modi had last addressed the nation on May 12 when he announced a Rs 20 lakh crore financial package to boost the economy recovering from the lockdown.

Hours before the address, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the planning and preparations for vaccination against Covid-19. In the meeting, the PM noted that vaccination of India’s vast and diverse population will need to factor in issues including those related to management of medical supply chains, prioritization of at-risk populations, coordination between different agencies involved in the process, as well as the role of private sector and civil society in this national endeavor.

PM Modi begins with warning people against coronavirus

The prime minister begins his address with a warning to the people asking them to not let their guard down as the coronavirus pandemic is still not over.

PM Modi says 

4: 05 (IST) “We are entering ‘Unlock 2’ and the season of cough, fever and cold is also about to start. In such a situation, I urge countrymen to take care of themselves,” he says.

4:06 pm (IST) “In comparison to other countries across the globe, India is still in a very stable situation in the battle against Covid-19. Timely decisions and measures have played a great role,” says PM Modi.

4:09 pm (IST) “Ever since Unlock 1 has happened in the country, negligence in personal and social behavior is also increasing. Earlier, we were very cautious about using a mask, keeping two yards distance, washing hands several times a day for 20 seconds,”

4:10 pm (IST) “During the lockdown, the top priority of the country was that such a situation does not happen that the stove is not burnt in the house of a poor person. Be it central government, state governments, civil society people, everyone has made every effort that none of our poor brothers and sisters should go hungry in such a big country,” he says.

4:11 pm (IST ) “In the last three months, 31 thousand crore rupees have been deposited directly into jan dhan accounts of 20 crore poor families. During this time, 18 thousand crore rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 9 crore farmers,” the PM says.

4:15 pm (IST) “We have more work during and after the rainy season, mainly in the agriculture sector. There is a slight slowness in other sectors. gradually, the atmosphere of festivals starts to build from July. This time of festivals also increases the needs, the expenses also. Keeping all these things in mind, it has been decided that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana should now be extended till Diwali and Chhath Puja, that is, by the end of November,” says PM Modi.
