In yet another show of support for Sasikala, AIADMK MPs visited former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence and pleaded with Sasikala to control the party.
The AIADMK actually is the third largest party in Parliament, after Congress, and plays a key role in passing legislation in Rajya Sabha where the ruling BJP lacks the majority.
Leaders of farmers associations from the delta region visited Sasikala and asked her to take over the reins “to establish the state’s rights in inter-state water disputes.
Previously touted as a top contender for the post, Thambidurai expressed his wholehearted support to Sasikala on Sunday.
She even touted as the top candidate to become party president soon. From someone who kept away from the spotlight while shadowing the late Chief Minister for over three decades, Ms. Sasikala has turned into the central figure that even senior party are projecting.
Three-time Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, in stark contrast, is not getting support from the party not even in his hometown of Periyakulam in Theni district.
Just look at this screenshot of a user urging Sasikala to take over.
The power struggle between Sasikala and O Panneerselvam will soon become tougher for the party and may backfire in near future.
