First Time Ever; Indians Are Praying For Pakistan’s Victory. What?

Over the last fifty years, the nations of India and Pakistan have clashed on both political and military fronts because of the current occupation of both nations within the states of Jammu and Kashmir. This clash between both the nations is often seen on the cricket ground as well, which appears no less than a battle ground.

The Indian cricket team started their Champions Trophy campaign on Sunday 4th of June against arch-rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston. As soon as the date for this game was confirmed, Twitter penetrated with tweets of several eminent people and celebrities. “Raees” director Rahul Dholakia tweeted: “Don’t forget today’s match is at a stadium in Birmingham not at the border in Wagah! It’s cricket, not war. Enjoy!”, whereas there were people like filmmaker Ashoke Pandit who called for the boycott of the much-awaited match in opposition of some of the big Bollywood names like Rishi Kapoor, Anubhav Sinha and Rahul Dholakia waiting for the match to begin.

As a result, India drifted to a 124-runs win over arch-rivals Pakistan in a match which was repeatedly interrupted by rain and at the end, Pakistan’s target of 320 to be made off 48 overs was reduced to 289 to make off 41 overs.
Thereafter, chasing a modest target of 192 runs against South Africa, the Indian cricket team cleared its way into the semifinals after which the Pakistan cricket team too made it into the semifinals by winning over England.

Now in case India wins their semifinal match against Bangladesh and will probably be meeting Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy finals. However, Indian fans would pray that Pakistan is able to spring a surprise in the semi-finals and meet India in the finals. You ask why? Maybe because of the fact that Pakistan has never beaten India in a Champions Trophy but, on the other hand, England looks stable as ever. And if Pakistan can do our work for us then why bother? After all, enemy of our enemy is a friend, right?

So, let’s take a look at reasons as to why Indian fans want Pakistan to win the semi-final match against England.

1.) Because then once again we can kick some serious a** of our beloved neighbours in the finals.

2.) The patriotic feeling of the national anthem sung by a massive number of Indian fans will be an amazing experience in the finals.

3.) It will be difficult for India to win against England, in England.

4.) The look on the ‘Mauka-Mauka’ guy will be totally worth it.

5.) Winning the Champions Trophy after beating Pakistan in the finals will be a cherry on the cake.
