Kamala Bhasin was an Indian Developmental Feminist, poet, activist, author and social scientist. Bhasin’s work that begins in 1970, focuses on gender education, human development and media .
The eminent feminist, activist, poet passed away on Saturday day morning.
Kamla Bhasin, our dear friend, passed away around 3am today 25th Sept. This is a big setback for the women's movement in India and the South Asian region. She celebrated life whatever the adversity. News of her demise was shared by Kavita Srivastav, the feminist by saying “Kamla Bhasin our dear friend passed around 3 am today 25th Sept .This is a big setback of women’s movement in India and South Asian Region,” she further says “ she celebrated the life whatever the adversity .Kamla you will always remain in our hearts .Insisterhood which is in deep grief .”
Kamla was an outspoken champion of women rights in India since 1970s ,was best known for her work Sangat : A Feminist Network and poem ,Kyunki main ek ladki Hoon mujhe Padhna hai.In 1995 she recited the refurbished poem Azadi (Freedom).
She was also South Asian Coordinator of One Billion Rising.
According to her feminist is not clashes between ideologies between men and women but against patriarchal ideology.
She took many steps in raising literacy rates among women in villages by using non literacy method to communicate and teach them.
Her every step for women’s rights would be inspiration for every women in the world.And her poems would would always be admired by her fans and we pray for her soul to rest in peace .
Though she has left this world but she would be always alive in our hearts .
