Police Commemoration Day 2021; Know about Indian police martyrdom history in brief

Every year on 21 October Police Commemoration Day is celebrated as tribute to all police officers for their services to the country . Last year many police officers have been determined in healthcare .

• History

The day remembers 10 police officers who breathed their last in Chinese firing in 1959. On October 21, 1959 Chinese troops opened fire and threw grenades at 20 Indian soldiers in Ladakh .

10 police officials martyrdom and 7 sustained injuries. On 28 November 1959,the Chinese troops handed over dead bodies of martyred policemen in India. They were cremated with full police honours at hot springs in North Eastern, Ladakh .

• Muesum inaugurated in 2019
It was after the incident that the police commemoration day was celebrated on October

21.PMModi inaugurated India’s first police Muesum on October 15. It was handled by Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the muesum depicts the history, uniform and gear of central and state police forces in India.
