It has now become commonplace for patients to be awake and perform activities while their brain is being operated on. There are some shows that most of us are addicted to and wouldn’t want to skip even if we have something important. In a recent instance, a 33-year-old patient watches the reality TV Show Bigg Boss and the Hollywood sci-fi movie ‘ Avatar ‘ to stay awake while doctors performed brain surgery on him.
We’re not kidding, the surgery had reportedly taken place in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. According to a report by India Today Report, doctors at Brinda Neuro Centre in Guntur conducted critical open brain surgery on the man while he was awake.
Vara Prasad, the 33-year-old patient watched BiggBoss and Avatar on a laptop as the surgery to remove recurrent glioma from his left premotor area abutting the mortal cortex was conducted by a trio of doctors.
Vara Prasad was operated on earlier as well in 2016 in Hyderabad but was not able to recover fully.
Earlier this year a similar bizarre incident had happened where a woman played her violin while undergoing a critical brain. Dagmar Turner, a professional violinist was undergoing an operation at London’s King College Hospital to have a tumor removed from her brain.
