Naseeruddin Shah has warned a section of Muslims celebrating Taliban rule in Afghanistan whether they want to live with old barbarism or reform their religion. He also said that Islam in India has always been different from Islam around the world.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has condemned a section of Indian Muslims celebrating the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan, calling it dangerous. The return to Islam is a matter of concern for the whole world, but the celebration of the barbarians by some sections of Indian Muslims is no less alarming. The 71-year-old actor said those celebrating the resurgence of the Taliban should question themselves. Whether they want to reform their religion or live with the old barbarism.
He also made a distinction between “Hindustani Islam” and that which is practiced in other parts of the world. Naseeruddin Shah also said that I am a Hindustani Muslim. As Mirza Ghalib has said, my relationship with Allah Mian is very different, I do not need political religion. Islam in India has always been different from Islam in the world. May God not bring such a time that it changes so much that we cannot even recognize it. The Taliban took control of Afghanistan on 15 August after defeating government forces across the country, taking the world by surprise.
The organization that hosted the al-Qaeda terrorists who plotted the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States was overthrown by US-led forces two decades ago. Taliban leaders have claimed that this time they will respect human rights and will not allow terrorists to use the country’s land.
