Know who is Shalini Yadav contesting against Narendra Modi from Varanasi seat

Shalini Yadav, a SP-BSP alliance candidate from Varanasi constituency against Narendra Modi is a fashion designer and an editor of local hindi newspaper run by her family. On 19th May she will contest her first ever General Lok Sabha elections. Before this, she has contested in mayoral election from Varanasi on Congress ticket and was the second standing candidate for Mayoral elections with 1.14 lakhs votes favoring her. This is the highest ever votes gained by any congress contestant in past few years.

Shalini Yadav is the daughter in law of Shyam Lal Yadav,
a Congress party leader, who won the Lok Sabha election from Varanasi in 1984. He also served as a Union Minister and deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Shalini credited her 1.14 lakh votes as the goodwill of her father-in-law among Varanasi based voters.

SP-BSP alliance nominated her candidature after election commission of India rejected Jawan Tej Bahadur Singh nomination papers from PM Modi constituency i.e. Varanasi. Shalini Yadav is graduated in English from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and she also holds a degree in fashion designing.
