CYCLONE PHETHAI: Two killed in Andhra Pradesh

The government of Andhra Pradesh has put a high alert in seven coastal districts of Guntur, Krishna, West Godavari, East Godavari, Srikakulam and Vishakhapatnam over predicting a cyclonic storm Phethai. According to The Indian Meteorology Department, the storm was to hit by Monday noon.

Members from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are already working in the areas of high alert. Up until now, a woman identified as Rellivalasala Veeramma (68) of Pallepalem died due to the violent wind in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Another person died due to a landslide on early Monday when a huge rock from the hilltop fell on his roof causing the roof to break and kill the man sleeping under it, he is been identified as Durga Rao(40). The district collector has announced to give Rs. 50,000 to the victim’s family.

The cyclonic waves did not even spare Jharkhand from its violent destruction, it has caused the temperature to decrease and people in Jharkhand are facing moderate to heavy rainfall due to Phethai.
