Private carrier IndiGo will temporarily suspend daily flights between Kolkata and Shillong for eight days starting Friday. The reason for the suspension of operations by the airline has not been stated, but on Thursday, sources in the Shillong Airport Authority said that the decision was taken in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases.
“All passengers are informed here that M/s Indigo Airlines, Indigo 6E has suspended its Shillong operations from 23 April to 30 April 2021,” the airport authority tweeted.
The authority urged passengers to contact the airline for any queries regarding rescheduling of flights or refunds on the return of tickets. Indigo officials could not be contacted for comments on the suspension.
The airline operates its flights from Kolkata to Shillong only. An official of the aviation company said that in February this year, after being shut down for about 10 months due to COVID-19, this cheap airline operated its operations on this route. Started again. “There has been an improvement in the number of passengers, which has increased to 90 percent,” he said.
