Vijay Diwas! Farmers finally celebrated their victory and
returned to their homes after year long protest

Farmers campaigning at Singhu, Takri and Ghaziabad borders finally returned to their villages in Punjab and Haryana after taking out a victory march on Delhi borders which symbolized their victory against central government. Farmers dismantled their makeshift accommodations at border sites as agitation, which braved nature of forces well as tags of “terrorists” and “Khalistanis” draws to an end. They got gathered for some ceremonies and started returning towards their home. Special arrangements were made along with highways to greet farmers as they reached their homes on tractors.


The victory march was planned for yesterday but it was postponed due to wake of the tragic helicopter crash which killed 13 people including Chief Defense of Staff General Bipin Rawat . Rakesh Taikat ,the face of farmers told in interview that farmers would vacate the protest sites today“ We will talk, pray and meet people who helped us. People have started vacating already,4-5 days. I will leave on December 15,”he said.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s
announcement to cancel three farms laws, farmers stayed to put at sites, demanding legal guarantee and withdraw cases against protesting farmers. They announced their return only after center sent a written proposal on outstanding demands to five member committee of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which is spearheading the agitation.

The center decided to form a committee that will decide on MSP issue. The committee will comprise government officials, agricultural experts and representatives of Kisan Morcha. The government also agreed on dropping all cases against farmers including those stubble burning cases filed by Haryana and UP Police during clashes in protests. On Kisan Morcha’s demand compensation was given on deaths of 700-odd farmers during the protests, the center said Haryana and Uttar Pradesh given in principle approval and Punjab has already made an announcement. The center’s proposal come after Union Minister Amit Shah spoke to all farmer leaders to discuss outstanding issues.

With farmers returning to their home forcing
government to climb down now focus shifts from protest sites from Delhi borders to arena of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. All eyes will be on election polls of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh after this farmer’s agitation and government’s attempts to crush it especially in UP where protesting farmers run over allegedly by Union Minister’s son.
