The ‘Sanskari’ Chief Of The Censor Board May Soon Be Replaced

The sanskari chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Pahlaj Nihalani might be replaced from his post, according to media reports.

In media reports, Mr Nihalani might host a meeting with the CBFC members in Thiruvananthapuram on July 28. According to media reports, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting might have informed Mr Nihalani about his replacement.

The list which includes the name of the might be new chief are Flim maker Prakash Jha, actor Chandraprakash Dwivedi and Director Madhur Bhandarkar are being considered.

The sanskari chief assumed the office as the chairperson of the CBFC in January 2015. Ever since Mr Nihalani has an affair with several controversies.

Pahlaj Nihalani, in 2015, chopped off intimate scenes in the James Bond film Spectre. Udta Punjab was another story altogether as the Board objected to several scenes in the film which chronicled the drug menace in the state. In what might sound absolutely bizarre, Mr Nihalani also blocked Konkona Sensharma’s Lipstick Under My Burkha on grounds of the film being ‘lady-oriented.’ And recently, Mr Nihalani objected to the word ‘intercourse’ which was used in one of the mini trails of Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jab Harry Met Sejal.

The Censor Board, with its outlandish decisions about blocking films, has invited the ire of the film industry, consistently.
