The much-awaited Mahesh Bhatt’s directorial comeback Sadak2, starring Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sanjay Dutt, has become the lowest-rated film of all time on IMDB with user rating 1.1 out of 10. The film has got over 15,000 IMDB user’s votes.IMDB is a platform that usually ranks films as per the audience’s votes.
Sadak 2 had a rollercoaster journey since its film announcement. After the hype of Mahesh Bhatt’s return and taking the hit ‘Sadak ‘ franchise forward, the film was at the receiving end of trolling amid the nepotism debate.
Friday witnessed the same story as netizens set the social media abuzz soon after Sadak 2 was released in Disney Hostar plus.
Audiences criticized the lackluster, lethargic, overdramatic, terrible plot of the film and called it a waste of the franchise of Sadak and talent associated with the film.
The major trouble in Sadak 2 plotline is that it is still imbibed in the 90s filmmaking. Nearly 30 years later this sequel is a lost cause. It was hard to believe that this film comes from Mahesh Bhatt’s direction, who has given most classic films such as Naam, Sadak, Arth which quite eloquently dealt with the rift between religions and people
Sadak 2 is a lackluster revenge story where Allia Bhatt’s Character Arya is seeking revenge for her mother’s death from a godman Gyan Prakash played by Markarand Deshpande. Arya is assisted by Sanjay Dutt, Ravi Kishore who is reprising his role as a taxi driver from the original 1991 release, and Aditya Roy Kapur aka Vishal played her lover role.
The film Sadak 2 was earlier planned to release in theatres but due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, the film was released in OTT platform Disney Hotstar Plus.
