Remember The Good Old Days, When Politicians Promised Schools And Hospitals? Now, Its Kabristan

Earlier, when an election rallies took place, ‘Development’ used to be the focal point of discussion. Issues like building new schools, colleges and universities are the main issues in the election rallies. But PM Modi’s rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur took a different turn. Modi’s remark of ‘Kabristan’ left the people in shock.

In an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, Modi’s “Kabristan” remark has managed to raise many eyebrows in the opposition. With Congress planning to move to Election Commission of India on the grounds of inciting communal hatred in the state, KC Mittal, Secretary of Legal and Human Rights department of the Congress party confirmed the news on the same.

While addressing an election rally in Fatehpur, PM Modi stated “Gaon mein agar kabristan banta hai, to gaon mein shamshaan bhi banana chahiye. Agar Ramzan mein bijli milti hai, to Diwali mein bhi milni chahiye. Agar Holi mein bijli milti hai, to Eid par bhi bijli milni chahiye. Bhedbhav nahin hona chahiye (If a village receives funds for a graveyard, then it should also get funds for a cremation ground. If you provide uninterrupted power supply for Eid, then you should also do it for Holi. There should not be any discrimination),” Modi said.

Modi’s remarks draw instant criticism from all quarters, with political parties taking the lead.

Making a sharp attack on Modi, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala says “Instead of looking at the ‘Janam Kundli’ of the Congress Party, it is time for the BJP to look into their ‘Karam Kundali’ because loss is written there on account of the demons of the demonetization,” adding further, he says “Modi’s intemperate language proves that they know they have lost the battle in Uttar Pradesh”
