It looks like the ground for the Congress party is weak and unsteady. Since the announcement of the assembly elections in the 5 states, many of the Congress leaders had join hands with the rival BJP. And adding to the list is the veteran politician from the Congress Rajeev Shukla who is supposed to be the closest aid to the party chief Sonia Gandhi.
According to sources, Rajeev Shukla exit from the Congress party sent the shockwave across the party line. Congress gave that platform to Rajeev Shukla and helped him to raise with both power and height. He ran as a member of the Akhil Bhartiya Loktantrik Congress Party, Shukla won by a large margin. In 2003, his party merged with the Indian National Congress, and Shukla was appointed as a congress party spokesperson. He was nominated as a secretary to the All India Congress Committee in January 2006. In March 2006, Shukla was elected for a second term.
Rajeev Shukla got married to Anuradha Prasad, who is the sister of Ravi Shankar Prasad, a parliamentarian and a Union Minister in Narendra Modi Government.
The exit of Rajeev Shukla from the party also indicates the failure in the party leadership especially Rahul Gandhi, which Congress is preparing him as a party president in near future.
