The government has added the following section to the existing permitted activities: “The seating capacity of Cinemas/theatres/Multiplexes shall be permitted to increase from existing 0% to 100% by following the Standard Operating Procedure issued already. Further, in order to create awareness among the spectators, the precautionary measures for Covid 19 shall also be screened during the ShowTime,” the government order issued on Monday states.

Nicholas Yatromanolakis, 44, was named as the new deputy minister of culture after being promoted from the position of general secretary at the ministry. The government retained its ministers of health and finance and most other key positions in the reshuffle.

Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living person, turned 118 on Saturday, according to local media. Tanaka, born on Jan. 2, 1903, celebrated her 118th birthday at a care facility in Fukuoka, southwestern Japan, where she lives, NHK News reported. She celebrated her birthday, clapping her hands, and said she plans to stay healthy until the age of 120, the report noted. Tanaka is in good health, eats three times a day, and does exercise, while she has “almost no chance” to meet her relatives due to measures against COVID-19, it added.

Nine more people who have tested positive for covid in the country have been found to be infected with the new mutated strain of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. With this, the number of people infected with the new UK virus in India has reached 38.

Of the 38 cases of the mutated strain of Covid-19, 10 have been detected at NIMHANS in Bengaluru, eight in NCDC Delhi, five in NIV Pune, three in CCMB Hyderabad, 11 in IGIB Delhi, and one case at NIBMG Kalyani.
