Latest Update: Covid19 cases in India rises to 873, Maharashtra leading with 159

According to the latest data provided by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of active coronavirus positive cases at 9.30 am today was 873. In a silver lining, 73 patients have been cured or discharged or migrated. The number of deaths due to Coronavirus in India has gone up to  19. Over 170 countries across the world are under the clutch of the deadly Coronavirus with the death toll of over 21,000. More than 471,518 cases have been reported, as per data.

Religious leaders, including that of the Christian community, issue a joint press statement stating “to curb the spread of the virus, we enforced certain restrictions on entry to pilgrim centres. We’re fighting this menace, by highlighting the concern for the others…” The joint press statement also states, ‘As everybody knows, a lockdown has been clamped all over the country. All are requested to co-operate with such restrictions and to make use of the situation in a highly creative way…”

The Union government has allayed fears saying that there was no “hard evidence” to state that stage-3 of Coronavirus has begun. With an aim to help mitigate the needs of poor people, the central government has announced Rs 1.70 lakh crore financial package. The Reserve Bank of India has also announced a slew of measures to ease the burden of people in the country.

“The Uttar Pradesh government has said that arrangement of 1000 buses has been done to take the migrant workers to their respective hometowns amid Coronavirus Lockdown. Transportation Officers, bus drivers and conductors were called by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last night to make all the arrangements,” reports ANI.

Rajasthan state health department says two Coronavirus positive cases have been found in the state today – a 23-year-old man in Ajmer, who travelled to Punjab and a 21-year-old woman in Bhilwara. The total number of positive cases in the state has now increased to 52.

Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Gujarat, says six more people have been tested Covid 19 positive, taking the total number of cases to 53 in the state.

Maharashtra has reported 6 new Coronavirus positive cases in the state today. Out of them, 5 are from Mumbai and one is from Nagpur. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 159, Maharashtra Health Ministry was quoted as saying by ANI.
