India’s first LGBTQ clinic and HIV testing centre inagurated in Mumbai

India’s first LGBTQ clinic and HIV testing centre has been inaugurated in Mumbai by Humsafar group. These centres are for lesbians, gay, transgender, bisexual and queer. The clinic was inaugurated by Richa Chaddha.

Humsafar group have been supporting LGBTQ group from the past 20 years. Their office is in Mumbai, they now will provide free counseling and Anti-retro viral Therapy (ART).

ART is the use of HIV  medicines to treat the disease. “The centre will be open for all”, Ashok Row Kavi, founder chairman of Humsafar group  said. The group has always spread awareness of HIV among the people.

“Until now, people will first go to test and if found positive,  they would be sent to Sion Hospital and with this thing in mind about what society would think, they wouldn’t go to seek treatment”, said Mr. Kavi.

He further said, keeping that in mind this clinic is one-stop centre where per-counselling,  detection , counseling and treatment is all given at one place.
