Farmers finally decides to call off their year long protest after government accepts their demands in writing

The protesting farmers decided to call off their year long protest after central government sent them a letter accepting most of their demands. Read the full story to know more about it :

The farmers were on a sit-in the protest since last November against farm-laws, which have been repealed by the government.

The farmers have decided to vacate the Delhi borders on December 11 after holding a victory march. In order to review promises made by central government Samyukta Kisan Morcha will held meeting with center on 15th January.

Gurnam Singh Charuni, the farmer leader said “We have decide to suspend our agitation. We will hold a review meeting on Jan 15. If government doesn’t fulfil it’s promises, we could resume our agitation.”


The decision to call of the protest was taken in meeting of Farmer’s Union after the government decided to form a committee on MSP and withdraw all cases against farmers immediately.

The center’s letter on letterhead of the agricultural secretary, also said that government of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana has given in-principle-consent to give compensation to kin of farmers who lost their lives.


The farmer leaders also apologized for the inconvenience caused to the people due to their agitation.
