There is good news for the people traveling by taxi in Delhi, because now people can enjoy London taxi on the streets of Delhi. In fact, London-based EV company (LEVC) is all set to launch its taxi vehicles in the Indian capital, called TX, The taxis have iconic exteriors but use electric motors to ensure a clean eco-friendly drive.
To recall, LEVC has recently announced a partnership with Exclusive Motors Pvt Ltd. Whereas LEVC is owned by Chinese carmaker Geely and is based in Coventry, UK. As a company, LEVC was started in 1908. When the first dedicated Black Cab was specifically designed and commissioned for use in London. In order to keep pace with the changing times, the Electric London Cab TX was introduced in 2018.
The LEVC TX is a zero-emissions vehicle. It has the option of a 33kW battery pack, and it offers an electric range of 101 kms on a single charge. The battery pack of this taxi supports both 22kW AC and 50kW DC charging standards. The LEVC TX is not fully electric. Instead, the London Black Cab is a plug-in hybrid. However, unlike the regular hybrid, the TX uses only its Volvo sourced three-cylinder 1.5-litre turbo petrol as a generator to top up its battery pack. With the help of its turbo petrol generator, the LEVC TX has a combined range of 510 kms.
Let us tell you, the LEVC TX is a very large vehicle with a length of 4,857 mm and a width of 1,874 mm. At the same time, the height of this black cab is 1,888 mm. Despite its large size, the TX’s turning circle is just 8.45 meters, which makes it quite sharp. It is worth noting here that the large wheelbase of the LEVC TX means that it can comfortably seat up to 6 passengers at the rear.
