Deepika Padukon is doing the character of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in an upcoming film by Meghna Gulzar. She tweeted on Monday that, “she’s elated to collaborate with Fox Star Studios for Chhapaak”.
The movie is based on the life and experience of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor, who is now a TV show host and a campaigner of ‘Stop Acid Attacks’.
“A story of trauma and triumph. And the unquashable human spirit”, Deepika tweeted. It is her first film after Padmaavat and her first ever collaboration with the Raazi director.
Lootera actor Vikrant Massey has been cast opposite Deepika Padukone in the movie. “ We will start the film shooting in third week of March. All casts are coming together, to me, Vikrant is somebody who I wanted to work with since Raazi. Seeing him in A Death In The Gunj… you know there are some actors that you just want to work with. I’m just glad I got the opportunity to have a suitable character. He would be playing Deepika’s partner in the movie”.
The movie will be Deepika’s first movie after her marriage with Ranveer Singh. It is to hit theatres in the month of January in 2019.
