Arnab Goswami alleges his family being physically assaulted during his arrest.

Mumbai: Republic TV editor- in- chief Arnab Goswami got detained by Mumbai Police on Wednesday. Goswami alleged that his mother-in-law, father-in-law, son, and wife have been physically assaulted.

Mumbai Police entered Goswami’s residence today and allegedly assaulted him and his family members. Republic TV was showing the live telecast of the incident where Goswami got arrested.

Goswami had earlier been booked in two cases related to alleged remarks to Sonia Gandhi on a television debate on Palghar mob lynching and Bandra station crowding incident report at NM Joshi Marg police station and Pydhonie police station respectively.

On October, several big names in Bollywood filed a civil suit on Arnab Goswami for violation of right to privacy, prejudicing of the right to fair trial and violations of the Programme Code, and defamation of the Film Industry while covering Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

Two cases were registered against him under the sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) which includes intent to cause riots, statements creating enmity, hatred or conflict between classes, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy.

Earlier in April 2020, Goswami and his wife Samyabrata Ray were allegedly attacked when they were driving back home from Republic TV Headquarters in Worli.
