Amid India-China rivalry and back lash of Chinese apps, TikTok being on the prime target of boycott with a drastic drop to 1 stars ratings on the Play Store, here comes a short-video sharing app ‘Mitron’, an Indian version of TikTok. The app is giving a tough competition to the latter and has witnessed over five million or 50 lakh times downloads on the Google Play Store (now also available on the Apple App store) within a month of its release. This development is eating the Indian market of Tiktok.
The MitronTV app had a 4.7 star rating on the official Google Play Store while writing this article. A clone of TikTok and similar to it, ‘Mitron’ is reportedly developed and released by an IIT Roorke student named Shivank Agarwal.
The creator of Mitron app says, “the app is designed for people to showcase their innovative videos online with its theme with light humor”. The app’s description on the Google Play Store read, “Our mission at Mitron is to create a platform where people can come and entertain themselves with small videos posted by people across the globe and at the same time create a social incentive for people to share and create their own videos.”
