Bollywood’s biggest filmmaker received death threats from an unidentified caller who has demanded a sum of 50lacs which is to be deposited in a Lucknow-based bank branch.
The accused allegedly threatened filmmaker’s family. Seeking the safety of his family, Mahesh Bhatt went on to file the complaint with Mumbai Police at Juhu police station after they start receiving threat messages on WhatsApp and calls.
The suspect, who was allegedly threatening filmmaker’s family, Sandeep Sahu has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh by the state’s special’s task force (STF) and Mumbai crime branch following written complaint.
UP police are questioning the suspect who was nabbed down by the anti-extortion cell of Mumbai crime branch, sources close to the police department says.
Sources further reveal that Bhatt was first threatened close to midnight on February 26 through a call to his mobile phone following which a case was registered at the Juhu police station on Wednesday.

The accused also asked Bhatt to deposit the money in a bank account.
Police said Mumbai Police anti-extortion cell has begun investigations soon after the Bhatt family registered the complaint.
