No Fear No Favour

Man kissed woman on her breasts on live TV without her consent.

A No means No!

Well, we heard about a no means no on recent Bollywood movie Pink, but looks like the society still hasn’t learned this important lesson yet. The French television broadcast unit has been flooded with complaint letters after a woman was kissed on the breast without her consent during a live broadcast.

The woman named Soraya, was appearing on a show aiming to break the French record for the longest continuous television program. Soraya is an impersonator of famous Keeping up with Kardashian star Kim Kardashian. Soraya took part in a skit which was based on the robbery of Kim Kardashian West in a Paris hotel room earlier this month.

Soraya was the Kardashian West lookalike tied up in a bathtub in the segment. After she was “saved” by panellist Jean-Michel Maire, who played a locksmith, the host of the show, Cyril Hanouna, suggested she give Maire a kiss.

She declined it gently.

Hanouna then said he thought Soraya said she wanted to give Maire a kiss. She clarified that she had declined. Then, with a bit of egging on from Hanouna, Maire went in for a kiss on the cheek.

Soraya turned her head to avoid it, and Maire promptly turned his downwards, planting a kiss on her right breast. In a tweet on Friday, the French government’s Superior Council of Audiovisual, which manages the country’s television regulation, said they had received over 250 complaints about the incident and were launching an investigation.

According to the French penal code, “Any act of sexual penetration, whatever its nature, committed against another person by violence, constraint, threat or surprise” and is “punished by fifteen years[sic] criminal imprisonment.” A sentence of twenty years is imposed where an aggravating factor is present, such as when the rape causes “mutilation or permanent disability” or “is committed against a minor under the age of fifteen years.”
