“Lost in Saudi Desert: Telangana Man Dies After GPS Fails and Fuel Dries Up”
In a heart-wrenching incident, 27-year-old Shahbaz Khan from Telangana and his colleague tragically lost their lives in the treacherous Ruba al-Khali desert in Saudi Arabia, known as the Empty Quarter. The two were on a routine work assignment when their GPS malfunctioned, sending them off course into one of the world’s most perilous deserts.
Shahbaz, hailing from Karimnagar and working as a tower technician in Al Hasa, had been employed in Saudi Arabia for three years. Five days ago, he and his colleague set out for a job, but their GPS failure left them stranded in the desert with no means of navigation. Running out of fuel, they were trapped in the scorching heat without a phone signal or any way to call for help.
The relentless desert conditions—intense heat, no wildlife, and a lack of water or food—proved insurmountable. Despite their desperate attempts to survive, both men succumbed to dehydration and exhaustion. After a search operation was launched by Saudi authorities following their report as missing, they were found too late. The loss of these lives underscores the perilous nature of navigating such unforgiving environments and the critical importance of reliable technology and support in extreme conditions.
