To test Amazon’s cloud service, Man stores 2 Million GB of porn on the servers

There are various platforms that offer cloud storage, however, Amazon came out with a plan that lets users claim “unlimited” storage on their cloud service. A Reddit user known as beaston02 tested the service and claims that he uploaded nearly 2 million gigabytes worth of porn on the cloud

First reported by Motherboard, the Reddit user recorder X-rated webcam streams from websites like CamSoda, Chaturbate, PornHub and other adult websites. He wanted to test the cap on Amazon’s “unlimited” storage option and in the process, he ended up uploading 1.8 petabytes of data. He recorded the cam shows over a period of five to six months of footage.

If you are wondering what a petabyte is, one thousand terabytes or in other words one million gigabytes equals to one petabyte. That is a lot of memory considering the biggest hard drive you can buy at retail has a capacity of 6 terabytes.

“It is nearly entirely porn,” he told Motherboard via a Reddit message. “Ever since I got into computers, I found myself learning more, and faster when it was something more interesting. Call me crazy, but women interest me more than most other things on the internet and there is a huge amount of data being created daily, so it was a good fit for the project.”
It would take anywhere between 23 years and 293 years to watch the entire package of porn depending on the video quality, according to Motherboard. Beaston2 has now stopped his pet project and uploaded his scripts on Github. Many Redditors have now taken up the charge and have started collecting their own webcam footage to keep the “Petabyte Porn Project” going.

“We all have different places where we draw the line morally, and that happens to be one of my lines, at least as far as publicly releasing code goes,” beaston02 told Motherboard. “Although I have no control over what any captured content is used for later, I also have asked any content gathered by the scripts not be shared or sold on websites.”

Due to this project of neaston002, he has been accused of forcing Amazon to end the unlimited storage option which was retracted back in June 2017. The Reddit user denies that his actions led the company to abandon the unlimited optio
