This Rakshabandhan why can’t we have a menstrual Rakhi!!!

On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, SheWings foundation has aimed to launch a campaign, both virtually as well as on the ground. The organization, as a team, plans to step on the grounds of slums of Delhi to distribute sanitary napkins to the underprivileged women. The campaign, #PeriodRakhi draws its ideation from the festival of Raksha Bandhan where we tend to extend the nation’s helping hands towards women residing in rural settings. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to help women take care of their menstrual health and hygiene and educate them about the same.

Through its virtual campaign, the organization is also transcending its steps to break the conventional idea associated with the festival of Raksha Bandhan and is spreading the awareness that girls can protect themselves and their brothers too.

In addition, SheWings is also reaching out to celebrities and influencers who would be instrumental in making #PeriodRakhi more widespread and meaningful.

On 28 May, this year, the organization also launched the #RedDotCampaign. The campaign resolved to spread awareness about the appropriate disposal of sanitary oriented waste. It also talked about the larger environmental problems that outgrow if the sanitary waste is left unattended or isn’t dealt with properly.

Thus, to spread more awareness about period poverty, the organization has organized a crowdfunding donation drive. Every little donation would be used in buying and handing over a sanitary pad to needy and underprivileged women as part of the donor’s gift to them.
