Technology is evolving every day and there’s almost nothing left on the face of the earth that we cannot buy online now. Everything is at the tip of our fingers and almost everything can be made available with just one simple click. But this one’s really unique we are still finding it difficult to accept what we just discovered.
An ‘Order a daddy’ application, like really?
An Indian-origin doctor, Dr. Kamal Ahuja, the scientific director of the London Sperm Bank recently launched a mobile app, named ‘Order A Daddy’ that lets women order sperms online.
“You make all the transactions online like you do anything else these days. This allows a woman who wants to get a sperm donor to gain control in the privacy of her own home and to choose and decide in her own time. We think this is the first-of-its-kind in the world,” he was quoted as saying by the ‘The Sunday Times’.
So here’s how it all happens.
The application lets women pick a donor based on their physical characteristics such as hair and eye colour or height. Women can also apply filters such as educational requirement, occupation and can also read a little description about the donor.
If the woman ticks all the boxes, then the donor is put into the ‘Wish List’ and the sperm bank then gets back to the woman interested in that donor after checking the availability.
In order to get the sperm sample, the woman has to make a payment of 950 pounds via the app. Once the payment is cleared, the sperm sample gets delivered to the clinic in which the woman is being treated.
“About half of Britain’s IVF clinics, including private and the UK’s state-funded National Health Service (NHS) institutions, are understood to have registered to use the service. The app is legal and meets the requirements of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), Britain’s IVF regulator,” reported Times Of India.
