‘Kimye’ is Over: Kim Kardashian files to divorce Kanye West.

Reality TV Star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from rapper Kanye West after almost six and a half years of marriage.

The move brings an impending end to one of the most followed celebrity couples of the 21st Century.

The couple began dating in 2012 and had their fast child in 2013. Kanye West proposed her later that year using the giant screen at the empty waterfront ballpark of the San Francisco Giants, and the two married on May 24, 2014, in a ceremony at a Renaissance fortress in Florence, Italy.

Christy Welder, a representative for Kardashian West confirmed that the divorce filing cites irreconcilable differences and Kardashian seeks joint custody of the couple’s four children.

The divorce filing also includes a prenuptial agreement regarding their assets. Though representative for West did not immediately reply to the divorce a source close to the ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper told that he was resigned to reality’.

“He knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier,” the source was quoted as telling People. “This is a somber day for him.”.

Kim Kardashian who made her name in the reality TV series ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ married Kanye West in 2014, making them one of the most celebrity couples in Hollywood and popularly known as ‘Kimye’.

The couple’s relationship started to become worse when Kanye West, who suffers from bipolar disorder ran an unsuccessful campaign to be elected as US President under his self styled Birthday Party.

Kardashian in July released a statement regarding West’s mental health struggles after he swiftly deleted a tweet in which he said that he had been trying to divorce her for months.

The wedding was the first for Kanye West and the third for Kim Kardashian after she had brief marriages earlier with Kris Humphries and Damon Thomas.

Their four children are all 7 or under: North, age 7, Saint, age 5, Chicago, age 3, and Psalm, 21 months old.

The couple grew further apart with the 21-time Grammy winner spending most of his time at his ranch in Wyoming and Kardashian remaining in their Calabasas mansion outside Los Angeles
