After four years of formation, NATO cleared it’s intention by offering membership to Ukraine some day in the distant future after crossing a red line for Russia. NATO was formed with the sole purpose to stop Russian Aggression and it’s expansion. Putin has always seen NATO’s expansion as an existential threat, and as a prospect of Ukraine joining the Western military alliance which is a “hostile act” according to Russia. With this view Putin invoked in a televised speech on Thursday, saying that Ukraine’s aspiration to join the “military alliance” was a dire threat to Russia. Currently there are approximately 30 countries which are a part of NATO. If any war or invasion is done in any country which is a part of NATO then every nation of this organisation takes strict action against the invader country which Russia never wants.

Putin has earlier emphasized his view that Ukraine is integral part of Russia, culturally, linguistically and politically which most people of eastern Ukraine feels. Contrary to this, western population of Ukraine wants to be dominated by European powers. Ukraine is a good source of natural resources and oil gases and Russia doesn’t want to give up on Ukraine.
