Sevilla beat Inter Milan 3-2 to lift record 6th UEFA Europa League Title

Spanish football club Sevilla clinched the UEFA Europa League title for the record sixth time by defeating Inter Milan in a thrilling final on Friday.

Sevilla’s love affair with the Europa League continued as they beat Inter Milan 3-2 in the competitive final behind closed doors.The thrilling counter ended with Sevilla defender Diego Carlos struck the decisive goal in the 74th minute with an overhead kick which took a huge deflection off Inter forward Romelu Lukaku.

The finale contest started with Inter forward Romelu Lukaku converting a penalty and providing a much-needed lead within 10 minutes. Sevilla forward Luuk de Jong then replicated his semi-final heroics with a quickfire equalizer goal .Sevilla then took advantage in the first half itself when Luuk de Jong again knocks the goal with a super top corner head, only for Inter’s Diego Godin to level the scores with a headed strike of its own.

If the first half of the finale was blockbuster, then sadly the second half couldn’t match to the first in terms of entertainment. The Inter striking star Lukaku missed brilliant one-on-one chances and he gifted Sevilla the championship after putting through his net later on.The former Manchester United striker Lukaku provided the final touch on Carlo’s overhead kick which was going completely wide and quite handed over the trophy to Sevilla.

Sevilla is Europa League Champions for the sixth time in 14 seasons. Sevilla captain Jesus Navas who had a terrific game was handed the trophy.  It was the joyful end of the season for the team and coach Julen Lopetegui who won his first championship trophy after being sacked by Spain and Real Madrid football team
