Months after Joe Biden’s victory in US Presidential Election 2020, Pro trump supporters on Wednesday stormed the US Capitol building in a bid to overturn his election defeat.

Pro-Trump supporters overwhelmed the Capitol Police and stormed Congress to interrupt the certification of Joe Biden’s Electoral College win and throwing the US Capitol into a deadly spiral of chaos and violence.

The chaos resulted in the death of one woman who was shot during the mayhem. Unverified video appears to show a woman who was part of the protest on the floor inside the Capitol and bleeding after gunfire erupted momentarily.

The violence forced lawmakers to flee the US Capitol and it disrupted the whole process of certification of Biden as the winner in the November 3 election.

While President Trump who had addressed supporters and made claims of election fraud hours before told the supporters to stay peaceful.

Trump’s Twitter account was then locked for 12 hours after he pushed baseless claims about the election, and the social media also warned him of the permanent ban if he didn’t remove his rule-breaking tweets.

Facebook and Instagram too followed the same path and blocked Trump’s pages for 24 hours.

Biden called for the restoration of “simple decency” and said, ”The words of a president matter, no matter how good or bad that president is. At their best, the words of a president can inspire. At their worst, they can incite,” he added. He called on Trump to “go on national television now, to fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution and demand an end to this siege.”

Following the chaos, Washington DC Mayor announces a public emergency for 15 days.

For the unversed Joe Biden won the election by 306-232 in the Presidential Election 2020 but Trump continues to falsely claim that there were widespread manipulation and fraud in the electoral counting.
