  1. Sheetal Amte, granddaughter of social activist Baba Amte commits suicide.

Renowned social worker Dr. Sheetal Amte – Karajki, the granddaughter of the legendary Baba Amte committed suicide at the famous Anandwan Ashram, on Monday Morning according to officials.

The granddaughter of Baba Amte, Sheetal was an Indian public health expert, disability specialist, and social entrepreneur. She was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and board member of a non-profit organization, Maharogi Sewa Samiti, which focuses on helping people disadvantaged by leprosy.

As per preliminary information, she reportedly injected herself and ended her life this morning, said a police official P.Pendarkar from Warora Police Station.

2. Iran says Israel using electronic devices to kill military nuclear scientists.

A top Iranian security official on Monday accused Israel of using ‘electronic devices’ to remotely kill a scientist who found the Islamic Republic’s military nuclear program in the 2000s.

Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the country’s Supreme National Security Council, commented at the funeral for Mohsen Fakhrizadeh where Iran’s defense minister separately vowed to continue the man’s work,’ with more speed and more power’

However Israel, long suspected of killing Iranian nuclear scientists over the last decade, has declined to comment on the attack.

3. Olympic-Bound Avinash Sable Breaks National Record At Delhi Half Marathon.

Tokyo Olympics-bound Avinash Sable smashed the national record while winning the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon gold among Indian elite runners, clocking 1:00:30 sec to finish ahead of his compatriots by a long distance in New Delhi on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Sable, who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 3000m steeplechase event during the World Athletics Championships last year, became the first Indian to run a half marathon under sixty-one minutes.

Such was Sable’s commanding performance that he finished the race way ahead of his Indian rivals Srinu Bugatha and Durga Bahadur Budha who finished second and third with timings of 1:04:16 and 1:04:19 respectively.

4. London’s Havelock Road in Southall to be Renamed ‘Guru Nanak Road’

A stretch of road in London’s Southall will now be renamed ‘Guru Nanak Road’ in honor of the founder of Sikhism. The decision in this regard was taken by the cabinet on July 14 to celebrate and commemorate Guru Nanak.

The Ealing Council announced on Monday that a part of Havelock Road between King Street and Merrick Road will be renamed ‘Guru Nanak Road’. This road also includes the location of the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall.

Authorities concerned carried out consultations directly with residents and businesses which will be directly impacted by the move, including the Royal Mail. The decision was taken following the Street Naming Protocol. The procedure states that such decisions should ‘respect and balance cultural and historical identities, sensitivities and heritage’.
