  1. Shameless starring Sayani Gupta selected as India’s entry for Oscars 2021 in short film category.

The short film, titled Shameless, is selected as India’s official entry at the 93rd Oscars in the ‘Live Action Short Film’ category. The film is written and directed by Keith Gomes.

In a statement, Gomes thanked the cast and crew of the film for their support. “I have to thank my incredible cast and my crew of National and Oscar award winners. I make films with little funding from family and friends, everyone comes together with loads of love and passion. Couldn’t be more blessed,” Gomes said.

The short film was released in April last year. The film has been selected among the list of five films. These included Shaan Vyas’ Natkhat, Aditya Kelgaonkar’s Sound Proof, and two more short films, Safar and Trapped.

Shameless stars Sayani Gupta, Hussain Dalal, and Rishabh Kapoor in lead roles. It is produced by Ashley Gomes and national award winner Sandeep Kamal.

2. Glenn Phillips’ ton helps New Zealand thrash West Indies in the second T20I.

Right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Glenn Phillips scored a brilliant hundred to help New Zealand comprehensively beat West Indies by 72 runs in the second T20I at the Bay Oval on Sunday.

After putting a mammoth score of 238/3, the Black Caps restricted the visitors to 166/9 in their allotted 20 overs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Phillips scored 108 runs with the help of ten 4s and eight 6s during 51-ball knock. He was ably supported by Devon Conway (65* off 37 balls) as the duo shared a 184-run stand for the third wicket.

Chasing the mammoth target, West Indies were never in the hunt as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

3. Aashiqui star Rahul Roy suffers brain stroke while shooting in Kargil, moved to ICU in Mumbai.

Aashiqui actor Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke while he was shooting for his upcoming film LAC: Live the Battle in Kargil. The actor suffered a stroke due to harsh weather conditions in Kargil. He is currently admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital.

Talking about LAC Live the Battle, the film is based on the real-life event of Galwan Ghati. Rahul is playing the role of a Major in the film. It is directed by Nitin Kumar Guptam. It is jointly produced by Chitra Vakil Sharma and Nivedita Basu.

Rahul made his Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s 1990 film Aashiqui. The film was a major success, making Rahul a star. He then went on to do films like Sapne Sajan Ke, Jaanam, Junoon, and more.

4. David Prowse, Man Behind the Darth Vader Mask, Dies at 85.

David Prowse, the champion English weightlifter, and bodybuilder who supplied his 6-foot-7 frame ,but not the voice or the deep breathing to portray Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, died early in the morning on Saturday following a short illness. He was 85.

Jason Joiner, an events producer who worked with Prowse, announced the death on a Facebook page dedicated to the actor. “Dave was dedicated to meeting the fans for decades and lots of fans’ first-ever guest they met was Dave in the early days of Comic Cons and collators’ events. Dave was larger than life and he will be so very much missed. Our love and thoughts go out to his family,” Joiner said.
