March 29, 2022 (New Delhi): Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has postponed his visit to India after he tested Covid Positive. His visit will be rescheduled very soon said Muhamed Heib, spokesperson of the Israel Embassy. On Monday, it was reported that Naftali Bennett had tested positive for COVID-19. Israel had earlier announced Mr. Bennett’s first India visit after assuming office as Prime Minister last year.

According to the official statement of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Mr. Bennett was scheduled to visit India during April 3-5 on the occasion of the commemoration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between India and Israel. FYI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart had earlier met on the borders of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26) which was held in Glasgow in November last year. Both conversations were organized on August 16, 2021.

India and Israel have always helped each other on diplomatic terms and on international strategic grounds. Both nations have elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership during the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Israel in July 2017. Recently, Covid cases are increasing at a rapid pace with Shanghai finding a new variant which led to the lockdown of approx 26 million people in China. Keeping this thing in mind, Israeli PM has canceled his visit to India.
